The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting Senior Crown Prosecutors specialising in Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO). If you're looking for a career with real purpose, this is an opportunity for you.
About the Crown Prosecution Service
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.
Working within a RASSO team is one of the most challenging and rewarding roles the Crown Prosecution Service offers. You receive high quality specialist training covering trauma informed practice, complex forensic evidence, and how to understand and challenge rape assumptions and misconceptions. With the support of experienced colleagues, mentors and mangers, you take ownership of significant casework and make finely balanced legal decisions that have a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
About the role
As a Senior Crown Prosecutor specialising in RASSO, you work on a wide variety of sensitive and complex offences. Your responsibilities include providing early investigative advice to the police, authorising charges, developing effective case strategies for trial, and presenting cases in court. You work closely with the police, counsel and other criminal justice partners to ensure cases progressed to the highest standard.
About you
We're looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with a commitment to public service, making a difference to the communities we serve and our Crown Prosecution Service values. You must have either experience in criminal law, and managing complex, sensitive cases. Previous experience in RASSO casework is desirable but not required as full training is provided.
About our benefits
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we pride ourselves on providing benefits that ensure our employees' needs are central. We want to ensure you can thrive at work and home, offering support to achieve a balance. Our benefits include:
